Thanksgiving took on a new meaning for the '98 Wolves from Ann Arbor.
With a 1-1-1 record in round robin play, the wolves needed a little help from the host team Lapeer in order to advance to the Championships. That help came by way of a 4-0 victory for Lapeer over Lansing.
The stage was set for a classic battle. Lapeer had beaten the Wolves 3-1 earlier in the tournament but that did not dampen the spirits of the Wolves. With a lot of home town spirit from the '96 Team who had also advanced to the finals the team came out of the locker room with fire in their eyes.
Cooper Schmunk put the Wolves on the board the the first period and that lone tally proved enough for the Wolves who battled hard and supported an outstanding performance by Ethan Harding in goal to preserve the shutout.
Congratulations to the Wolves for their Championship win!
