The emphasis in the House League is a competitive and fun environment of learning and good sportsmanship at all skill levels for both boys and girls. We achieve this through the commitment of coaches and parents.
Mite, Squirt, Peewee and the All-Girl teams play against AAAHA teams within their division and have opportunities to play home/away games with teams from other associations, play in outside tournaments, and in AAAHA's Fall Classic tournament. Bantams and Midgets participate in the Little Caesar's Hockey League and play home/away games within their Little Caesar's division and have the opportunity to schedule additional home/away games with teams from other associations. The season ends in March with division playoffs leading to championship games on “Hockey Weekend”. Teams skate mostly on weekends. Evaluation skates are held in September to balance team competitiveness across divisions. AAAHA may move players between teams during the season in order to achieve a fair balance.
AAAHA House league ice times for all boys and girls house players will begin early September at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube: For each of the first three weekends of the season, ice times are assigned by birth year and last name. (Schedule posted on AAAHA website and rink bulletin boards by Aug 15) Players are expected to attend all sessions for their division. These sessions are included in the registration fee; there will not be an extra charge at the door.
Teams will be drafted and players will be notified of team assignments. Players are accepted into the House program upon receipt of the completed registration form and $150 registration fee. Should any program close, you will be contacted and placed on a waiting list. All players with good skating skills are encouraged to try out for House team placement by attending the conditioning skates, House evaluations, and skills clinics at the beginning of the season. Players who do not have the hockey skills required for their division will be placed in the Initiation or Mini-Mite program as appropriate. House players receive home & away jerseys, name plaques for each, and a pair of sox.
For specific details for Fall 2008, please read carefully the Fall Information Letter. For registration forms and instructions, please visit the Registration Page.
NOTE: Prior team experience does not guarantee team placement. AAAHA is the sole determinant of team placement. Individuals who do not have the skills required for their age division will be placed in the Initiation or Mini-Mite program.
