USA Hockey Registration and Rostering Info

Procedures for Rostering in the State of Michigan

When you register a player with USA Hockey, you are listing important contact information and signing off on a waiver of liability.

The information you enter is used to generate the entries on official team rosters. If the player name on the roster does not match the birth certificate, the entry on the roster is invalid and will be lined out by the USA Registrar.

If you have mistakenly registered a player at USA Hockey with something other than the name shown on the birth certificate, you need to call USA Hockey and request a correction immediately. For USA Hockey questions, email memberservices@usahockey.org or call 1-800-566-3288 ext 123.

This is how a player is rostered in the state of Michigan:

  1. Player is registered with USA Hockey online.
  2. Player fills outs application for local association and submits a copy of their USA Hockey confirmation with barcode.
  3. The player confirmation barcode is scanned by the local association into a computer program called Cybersport, which is provided by USA Hockey and licensed to that specifc association.
  4. The association transmits (via Cybersport) its scanned barcode reports to USA Hockey to claim the players who have registered. All player information is downloaded into the local Cybersport database for the association. The name, address and email contact info that was entered in when registering with USA Hockey is NOT edittable by the association.
  5. Association assigns players to team in the Cybersport database and prints the official roster.
  6. Players and coaches sign the roster. Signatures only. Other marks on the roster wil invalidate the entire document.
  7. The signed roster is packaged with all forms for players and coaches. The forms must be complete and in specified order. USA Hockey Registrar reviews paperwork for each player and coach, and if everything valid and correct, will certify and stamp the roster, and return to the association. IF any coach or player does not have proper paperwork with the roster, that person will be lined out from the roster and is not part of the team. If the Head Coach info is not complete and in order, the roster will not be certified.
  8. Certified rosters are kept on file with the association with all paperwork for a period of three years, as required by MAHA. Copies of the roster are provided to teams for participation in leagues and tournaments.
